Lubrinox fasteners transform production at healthcare solutions manufacturer

Innovation in healthcare can start with something as small as a bolt. Lopital, based in Oisterwijk and a manufacturer of mobility and care solutions, strives to make the work of caregivers easier down to the smallest details. One of those details was the use of stainless steel fasteners in their products. By implementing Lubrinox fasteners, the company has significantly improved its production processes. This has resulted in clear benefits for product quality, operational performance and efficiency.

Galling issues caused production challenges

Founded in 1977, Lopital manufactures, distributes and services high-quality ergonomic hygiene and transfer solutions for the healthcare sector. Its product range includes shower and toilet chairs, patient lifts, care tables and other transfer aids specifically designed for healthcare environments.

However, joining stainless steel to stainless steel caused problems with galling. As a result, grease and lubricants had to be used during assembly. This process was time-consuming, messy and problematic, especially for a company producing hygiene equipment that is mainly used in shower, toilet and swimming pool environments.

The use of grease also made it difficult to apply thread-locking compounds, which compromised the reliability of fastener connections. The solution needed to be applicable across the entire range of fasteners, including bolts, nuts, screws and washers. At the same time, it had to simplify the assembly process and reduce maintenance time.

From lubricants to smart fastening solutions

Fabory introduced Lubrinox fasteners as the solution. In addition, Fabory supplied custom Lubrinox bolts with pre-applied Loc-spot thread locking. This combination ensures both smooth assembly and reliable locking. Today, Lopital uses Lubrinox products for 90 percent of its fasteners.

The pre-coated Lubrinox fasteners eliminate the need for additional lubrication and allow stainless steel components to be assembled and disassembled smoothly. The products are safe to use in water environments, making them ideal for hygienic applications. They are also available in all sizes required by Lopital.

More efficient assembly and more reliable connections

The benefits are also noticeable on the work floor. An employee at Lopital explains:

Hans Vermeer, Operations Manager at Lopital, adds:

"The biggest advantage is that we no longer have to lubricate or grease our fasteners, because we can now use stainless steel on stainless steel without it seizing during assembly. Our technicians and engineers use far less grease and lubricant and can still apply Loctite on all components when needed. Previously, it was impossible to combine grease with thread-locking compounds."
