From the Hague family business to a European partner in fastening technology

In 2022, Fabory celebrated 75 years as a specialist in fastening solutions. From its beginnings as a family business in The Hague to becoming a European partner in fastening technology, Fabory’s history has been shaped by continuous investment, technical expertise and a commitment to supporting its customers.

Our range includes 180,000 fasteners. With the acquisition by Torqx Capital Partners in 2020, we further strengthened our position as a specialist fastener supplier. We are the Masters in Fasteners.”
From The Hague to Tilburg
In 1947, Karel Borstlap and his father began selling screws and tools from the family home in The Hague, where stock was literally stored under the stairs. It marked the beginning of a success story that would take the business from The Hague to Scheveningen and then to Tilburg. When expansion in Scheveningen was no longer possible, the family moved the business to Tilburg.
In 1968, the company moved south to Tilburg while the Scheveningen location remained in operation as a branch for several more years
Independent laboratory
In 1996, Fabory, then Borstlap BV, introduced an automated miniload system at its central warehouse in Tilburg, making the company one of the first wholesalers to invest in a computer-controlled warehouse.
The laboratory became another important differentiator. In March 1998, the Borstlap laboratory received A2LA accreditation and was recognised as an independent laboratory able to issue product certificates.
New fully automated warehouse
“After the acquisition by Torqx in 2020, we further strengthened our position as a fastening specialist. Thanks to investments in our digital proposition and smart logistics solutions, we can respond even better to the changing demands of our customers.” Francisco Terol also highlights the role of the new fully automated warehouse in Tilburg, which is directly linked to the automated order-picking warehouse. “We are thus taking an essential step in the further development and growth of our organisation.”
