Twin Disc - Loctite Products Now Available in Logic

At Twin Disc’s facility in Nivelles, Belgium, managing frequently used Loctite products required a more efficient approach. High consumption, a broad product range and a manual inventory process meant employees were spending valuable time monitoring stock levels and arranging replenishment.

By introducing Fabory Logic, Twin Disc has automated key parts of its inventory management process. Consumption is monitored, replenishment is triggered automatically and Loctite products can now be fully replenished within a maximum of 48 hours.

The challenge: time-consuming manual inventory management

Loctite products are used regularly at Twin Disc’s Nivelles facility. The combination of high consumption and a wide range of products meant maintaining appropriate stock levels required frequent attention.

The previous inventory process was largely manual. Employees needed to monitor stock, identify when products were running low and initiate new orders. This made inventory management time-consuming and created unnecessary dependence on individual employees to keep the process moving.

The existing method also involved a minimum lead time of around two weeks. For products used regularly within its operations, this placed additional pressure on planning and increased the importance of maintaining sufficient stock.

Reliable product availability in a demanding industrial environment

Twin Disc has been active since 1962 in the development and production of marine propulsion systems for various markets, including leisure boating, workboats and other industrial applications. The company operates globally and sets high standards for reliability and availability of components.

At the Nivelles operation, dependable access to the products employees use every day supports efficient working and helps prevent unnecessary disruption. Improving inventory management was therefore not simply about reducing administrative work. It was also about making product availability more reliable and predictable.

Automating replenishment with Fabory Logic VMI

Fabory Logic provides Twin Disc with a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) solution that helps automate stock monitoring and replenishment.

At one of the Twin Disc locations, products are stored within a Fabory Logic cabinet system. Consumption is registered as products are used and inventory levels can be monitored without relying on employees to carry out repeated manual stock checks.

When replenishment is required, the process is triggered automatically. This creates a more efficient flow of products from Fabory to the point of use while reducing the administrative work associated with conventional inventory management.

Automating these processes reduces manual intervention, improves visibility of consumption and helps ensure products are replenished on time.

From two-week lead times to replenishment within 48 hours

The change has significantly shortened the replenishment cycle. Under the previous way of working, Twin Disc had to account for a minimum lead time of around two weeks. With Fabory Logic, full replenishment can now be achieved within a maximum of 48 hours.

This faster and more automated process helps create a streamlined supply chain in which essential products are available when employees need them. It also removes much of the dependency on a single employee being responsible for monitoring inventory, approving requirements or initiating new orders.

“Our inventory management has become much more stable and predictable.”

Justine Falh
Supply Chain Manager, Twin Disc

Greater insight into consumption combined with automatic replenishment means the Twin Disc team no longer needs to actively manage the inventory in the same way. Products remain available while the process operates with considerably less manual intervention.

Automated Loctite replenishment across two locations

Loctite products are supplied to two Twin Disc locations. One location uses a Fabory Logic cabinet while the second uses an existing cabinet, allowing the solution to be adapted to the requirements of each area.

This demonstrates how Vendor Managed Inventory can be integrated with an existing working environment. The objective is to create an efficient replenishment process that fits the customer’s operation.

For Twin Disc, that means improved visibility, less time spent managing inventory and a more dependable supply of essential products to the people who need them.
