Fabory's A2LA Accreditation Renewal in 2022
The A2LA assessment took place in March 2022 and resulted in the renewal of Fabory's laboratory accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025.
The assessment covered the laboratory's quality-management processes, testing methods, equipment and the competence of employees responsible for carrying out laboratory tests.
The specific accreditation renewed in 2022 was valid until 31 March 2024. Fabory has continued its accreditation programme since that renewal and its in-house laboratory remains ISO/IEC 17025 accredited.
What ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation Means
ISO/IEC 17025 sets internationally recognised requirements for the competence, impartiality and consistent operation of testing and calibration laboratories.
Accreditation provides independent confirmation that a laboratory has appropriate processes, equipment, testing methods and competent personnel in place to produce reliable test results.
For industrial customers this is particularly important when fasteners are used in applications where material properties, mechanical performance, dimensions or product conformity must be verified.
How the Fabory Laboratory Is Assessed
As part of the accreditation process A2LA assesses the documentation and operation of the laboratory's quality system together with the validation of individual testing methods.
The assessment also considers the technical knowledge, skills and impartiality of laboratory employees. Calibration and maintenance records for relevant equipment are reviewed to ensure testing is carried out using appropriately controlled equipment.
Employees may be required to demonstrate testing methods during an assessment so that each stage of the process can be reviewed against the applicable requirements.
The laboratory also participates in interlaboratory comparisons. These exercises allow test results to be compared with those from other laboratories and provide additional evidence of consistent testing performance.
Fastener Testing at Fabory
