Vekoma Rides: "Fabory Logic RFID hits the bullseye"

Vekoma Rides (Vlodrop, NL) is one of the world’s top roller coaster and attraction manufacturers, with over 300 specialists turning imagination into thrilling reality for theme parks worldwide. Quality and safety are paramount in their rides, which means using the best parts and maintaining them diligently. Recently, Vekoma expanded its Netherlands spare parts warehouse and looked for ways to improve the efficiency of managing thousands of fasteners and components that keep their coasters running safely.

RFID technology for smarter stock management

To streamline fastener inventory, Vekoma chose Fabory Logic RFID: a customized smart shelf replenishment solution. Fabory Logic RFID uses electronic tags and sensors to monitor stock levels in real time. When Vekoma technicians take fasteners from an RFID-enabled bin, the system automatically registers the removal. Once stock hits a reorder point, it triggers an order to Fabory, who then refills the bin, often before Vekoma even notices it’s low. This automation has led to significant cost savings by avoiding line stoppages and rush orders.

Time savings and guaranteed availability

Vekoma purchaser Ronald Haex praises the solution: “Fabory's RFID solution is a bullseye. It saves us a lot of time and guarantees the availability of fastening materials.” In other words, the purchasing team spends far less time manually checking stock or placing orders, and they have peace of mind that critical bolts and nuts will always be on hand when needed. This collaboration shows how smart logistics solutions like Fabory Logic deliver greater flexibility, control, and cost reduction. Especially in a demanding industry such as amusement ride manufacturing, where downtime is not an option and every bolt’s integrity is literally a life-safety issue.

  • Automated inventory tracking: Fasteners in the Vekoma warehouse are managed by RFID smart shelves, which automatically detect usage and initiate reorders.
  • Time and cost savings: The RFID system has reduced manual inventory work and prevented shortages, yielding cost savings and allowing staff to focus on value-added tasks.
  • Assured availability: Critical parts are always in stock, ensuring maintenance and new installations stay on schedule, a key advantage in an industry where delays can be very costly.
