“In het monteren van onze landbouwmachines vertrouwen we op Fabory Logic”

Maar liefst 99,5 procent van alle bouten, moeren en koppelingen die AVR uit Roeselare gebruikt bij de productie van landbouwmachines, koopt het bedrijf van Fabory. Aan het einde van het jaar staat de teller op zo’n 1.000 geproduceerde landbouwmachines. Bij die productie vertrouwen de medewerkers op Fabory Logic: met een optimaal voorraadbeheer beschikken medewerkers op ieder moment over precies de juiste hoeveelheid bevestigingsmaterialen.

Alle onderdelen van de machines worden op maat geproduceerd en aan de lijn geassembleerd. Bij zijn wekelijkse bezoek scant de merchandiser het lege bakje en vult die bij zijn volgende bezoek weer aan.

Seizoensgebonden productie

“Ivan Lippens, operator bij AVR: “Mocht eens een productiestop dreigen, dan schakel ik direct met mijn contactpersoon bij Fabory. Op sommige momenten heb je nu eenmaal veel dezelfde bouten in één keer nodig, zeker bij seizoensgebonden productie.” Filip Boone, tactical buyer: “Vroeger was het zo dat in drukke periodes personeel zelf de pallets moest openmaken om materialen te zoeken. Dat is met Fabory Logic verleden tijd.”

1.000 verschillende materialen

De vraag naar duurzame machines die economische rendabiliteit bieden, is groot. AVR ziet een evolutie naar meer en meer precisielandbouw. Filip: “Schaalvergroting en klimaatextremen in de landbouw / aardappelteelt creëert vraag naar beter presterende en betrouwbaardere machines. Stilstand wordt bijna niet meer getolereerd tijdens het korte tijdsframe dat de machine moet werken. Ook personeelstekort en kwalificaties zorgen voor een uitdaging. Machines moeten meer doen, in extremere omstandigheden. Vanwege minder gekwalificeerd personeel moet het ook zeer intuïtief en eenvoudig te bedienen zijn, wat vaak botst met technologische vooruitgang.”

In het ontwikkelproces van nieuwe machines, houdt AVR hier rekening mee op deze vlakken:

• Betrouwbaarheid en beschikbaarheid van componenten
• Performantere machines : meer kunnen in de beschikbare tijd
• Automatisatie: We voegen steeds vaker automatische functies toe, zodat we de complexe machines die slechts een paar weken per jaar worden gebruikt, goed kunnen bedienen.

Op de plantmachine kunnen tegenwoordig toestellen worden geplaatst, die automatisch meststoffen of pesticiden doseren. “Zo blijft de milieubelasting laag.” Voor deze toevoeging zijn nieuwe bevestigingsmaterialen nodig, waar collega’s van Filip en Ivan op de afdeling Research & Development naar zoeken. “Zij werken continu aan het optimaliseren van de machines. In totaal bestellen we 1.000 verschillende materialen bij Fabory.”

Blind trust in the correct fasteners

Specific bolts in the machines protect the potatoes. These are wood screws with a fully rounded head. "R&D helps us get as many potatoes as possible into the farmer's warehouse without damage," Ivan knows. "For many parts, we use bolts with a tensile strength of 8.8; for assembling a wheel axle, for example, we need bolts with a tensile strength of 10.9." Filip: "Conversely, we also use shear bolts for our machines. When cultivating the soil for planting, you don't want the entire tiller to break on a stone. Always protect the machine. That's only possible with fasteners you can blindly trust."

Prevent production shutdown

Preventing a production shutdown is one of the key principles. The production process must continue in the correct order. Ivan: "This prevents us from having to assemble something afterwards while another part is already pre-assembled. On the chassis of our machines, we attach hydraulic metal tubes of various diameters. Just for a harvester, you need dozens of them."

Proactive

Filip adds, "Our dedicated contact at Fabory provides insight into consumption and clearly shows what the high and low runners are. She also helps us decide whether some fasteners should no longer be kept in stock and advises on choosing alternative suppliers in agribusiness. These suppliers can also place the materials in the Logic cabinets. Fabory tells us about opportunities for improvement and doesn't wait for us to come up with a question. This proactive attitude works well for us."

Efficiency as a prerequisite

With about 1,000 items in circulation, tracking and ordering inventory can be time-consuming at AVR. The time the company saves with Fabory Logic's two-bin method is now spent on producing its machines. Ivan: "The Fabory Logic cabinets have become indispensable in modern production. Efficiency is essential; you can't work without it."
