Faes in Reusel, the Netherlands, has worked with Fabory for more than 30 years. To help its engineering team review fastener selection and explore alternative fastening methods, Fabory organised a focused on-site fastener training session tailored to Faes’ products and challenges.
The four-hour interactive workshop brought together 13 Faes engineers and covered the factors involved in choosing the right fastener, commonly used fastening methods and alternative solutions that the team had not previously used.

The challenge: reviewing fastener selection and design choices
Faes provides customised industrial packaging solutions and works with high-tech customers including ASML, Philips and the Dutch Defence Ministry.
Precision is therefore important not only in the packaging solutions Faes develops, but also in the bolts, nuts and other fasteners selected for its products.
Fabory Account Manager Pieter van Wijk proposed a dedicated workshop to help the Faes engineering team update its knowledge and review the factors that influence fastener selection.
A customised workshop for Faes engineers
Fabory expert Edwin de Lange delivered a four-hour interactive session to 13 Faes engineers.
The workshop was tailored to Faes’ products and challenges rather than following a generic training format. It covered factors involved in selecting the right fastener, existing fastening practices and alternative methods and products that could be considered.
The objective was to broaden the team’s knowledge of available fastening solutions and encourage discussion around current design and production practices.

The workshop covered both familiar fastening methods and newer alternatives, giving the Faes engineering team a broader view of the available options.
Introducing fastening solutions and products that had not previously been used at Faes encouraged the team to reconsider whether existing approaches were always the most appropriate for each application.
The session therefore focused not only on product knowledge, but also on how fastening choices can be considered during design and production.

The knowledge update prompted both engineers and production staff at Faes to review their existing practices.
