Prevent the loosening of threaded joints

How do you prevent the loosening of threaded joints?

Since there is no standard solution, a specific one must often be sought.

Some rules of thumb are:

  • Clamp as few (deformable) parts as possible in a threaded joint
  • Check the tightening to attain the correct (high) prestressing force
  • Choose a clamping length to thread diameter ratio of at least 5
  • Choose efficient retaining products

Locking products that give the best results are RIPP bolts and screws, NORD-LOCK locking washers, micro-encapsulated adhesive and contact disk springs.

Note 1: Bolt head and nut must both be secured to prevent loosening! Note 2: The FABORY fastener specialists can always give you advice specifically suited to your application!
